Transforming the Curriculum through Art at Fairlight 1
At Fairlight 1, art is an integral part of our curriculum, and each year we explore its benefits through our Annual Art Show. This event not only celebrates the children’s creativity but also engages our families and community in the learning process.
Throughout the year, our classrooms are transformed into galleries, displaying the projects and artworks our children have worked on with pride. From painting and drawing to sculpture and photography, the children explore various forms of art, inspired by classic and contemporary artists, as well as indigenous influences. This year, books played a significant role in our creative process, weaving storytelling into the artwork.
One of the highlights was introducing 3D pens, allowing children to experiment with 3D sculpture-making. We were also fortunate to have a local artist visit and share her process of writing and illustrating her book, Bowerbird Blues, enriching the children’s creative journey.
Each classroom designed an immersive experience for families to enjoy during their visit, incorporating nature, sustainability, and sensory elements like sight, sound, and smell to create a truly magical atmosphere.
The Fairlight 1 Art Show is more than a display—it’s a celebration of creativity, learning, and the artistic journey we embark on with our children every year.
